Visas and permits valid until June 30, 2025

Decree-Law No. 41-A/2024 of June, 28

Decree-Law No. 41-A/2024, of June 28, amended the Decree-Law No. 10-A/2020, of March 13, extending the validity of all documents and visas relating to residence in Portugal until June 30, 2025.

These documents will remain valid under the same conditions after June 30, 2025, provided that the holder proves that has already scheduled the respective renewal.

The disorganized transfer of the Aliens and Borders Service (SEF - Serviço de Estrangeiros e Fronteiras) to the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum, I. P. ("AIMA"). and the existence of 400,000 pending cases has negatively impacted the professional and family lives of several foreign citizens, as well as the conditions of access to public services.

This is the forty-seventh amendment to Decree-Law No. 10-A/2020, of March 13, which established exceptional and temporary measures relating to the epidemiological situation of the new Coronavirus - COVID-19.

The law also approves rules within the scope of the migration plan, assigning new competencies to AIMA in terms of attracting and retaining qualified human capital, and reinforcing the framework of the Migration Observatory, aiming it will play a role in the strategic and scientific monitoring of the phenomenon of migration.
